About Jennifer

Jennifer Zwarich, LCSW-C (she/her/hers)

I believe connection between the therapist and individual or family is the most important part to making progress in therapy.  The connection or fit needs to be strong enough to invite yourself in getting comfortable being uncomfortable, this is a part of the work of therapy.  I believe you’re the expert of your own lived experience, as intersections in our individual identities show up differently as we walk through life.  It’s my privilege to walk the road along with you, as you create the changes and connections that you desire in your life.

About Me - The Therapist

I'm Jen, a psychotherapist, lifelong learner, and connection seeker. I specialize in supporting deep feelers and thinkers, particularly highly sensitive teens and adults. My approach involves:

  • Self-Understanding: Helping you explore your upbringing and current worldview to foster a deeper understanding of yourself.

  • Self-Connection: Guiding you to recognize and connect with your needs, and teaching you how to meet those needs sustainably.

  • Energy Management: Assisting you in assessing your energy levels and learning how to rest and recharge according to your unique system.

  • Family Support: Working with families or parents to enhance understanding, connection, and communication within their family dynamics.

About Me - The Person

I am a cisgender, White, neurodivergent, het-passing queer woman. Originally from Illinois, I've called Maryland home for the past 20 years. I am a wife, a mother to two teenagers, a daughter, and a sister.

I adore cats, especially those that act like dogs—the cuddlers, greeters, and companions—as well as those who clearly communicate their intentions and limits. As an advocate for social justice, I volunteer with various organizations to increase support and equity for LGBTQIA+ youth.

In my free time, I love to hike, run, bike, read, learn, organize, practice yoga, and spend time outdoors. I cherish moments with family and friends. Committed to personal growth and well-being, I prioritize my health by participating in my own therapy.

I use the following therapeutic modalities in my work with clients:

  • Relational

  • Family Systems

  • IFS Informed

  • MBSR-T

  • Polyvagal Theory

  • Somatic Interventions

  • DBT Informed

  • HAES Focused
